How To Create an Effective Book Marketing System

If you want this to become a reality, it’s time to create an effective and efficient book marketing system that converts traffic, grows your email list, and accelerates your book sales. First, your marketing system needs a strong foundation. As an author, you must understand your audience, work consistently and creatively to grow your platform through social media, and create quality content on a regular basis. Once these pieces are in place, you’re ready to build your life-changing marketing system.

Landing Pages

A Landing Page can be the home page of your website or a page designed with a specific call-to-action—like signing up for your email list. It takes a well-designed landing page to convert visitors into subscribers. Here are four areas you need to optimize in order to build a high-converting landing page:

  • Powerful Headline. Titles sell books and headlines convert visitors to subscribers on landing pages. Take the time and do the research to write an impactful headline.
  • Clear, Concise Copy. Less is more when it comes to landing-page copy. Your copy must convey a clear value proposition for visitors. Make sure they know why they should sign up for your email list…and how. Make every word count.
  • Strong Call-To-Action. It should be clear to visitors exactly what you want them to do, what action you’d like them to take—download, sign up, register, etc. A brightly colored and well-worded call-to-action button is a must.
  • Compelling Opt-In Offer. Make easy for your visitors to decide to take action. Give them a useful piece of content that addresses one key pain point and is quick and simple to access and use.

Traffic

Traffic is “marketing-speak” for visitors to your landing page. How do you get people to visit your landing page? Here are a few tactics to generate traffic for your landing page:

  • Ask family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and members of your offline social groups to check out your website and spread the word.
  • Optimize your website and landing pages for discovery by search engines.
  • Add a sharing widget to your email opt-in “Thank You” page.
  • Add landing-page hyperlinks to your bios on all your social profiles.
  • Add a one-liner with an embedded landing-page link to your email signature.

Amazon

There are three primary ways to leverage the Amazon platform as an author: Free Promotions, Kindle Countdown Deals and KDP Select. Of these three, Free Promotions provide some of the greatest return. To maximize your Free Promotions on Amazon, you must be prepared. Here are a few areas you’ll want to get ready before you start:

  • Book Cover. Your cover will shape a potential reader’s first impression and is one of your most important sales tools.
  • Book Content. Your book itself is a marketing tool, so make sure it’s content is in great shape and you’re using your front and back matter to its full marketing potential.
  • Author Central Page. Help readers find out more about you as an author by ensuring your Author Central profile is complete and optimized.
  • Metadata and Synopsis. These are powerful discovery tools in the Amazon algorithm and search engine. Know how to use the both to their full effect.
  • Reviews. Reviews offer social proof that your book is worth a reader’s time and money. They can help you attract a wave of new readers and give you a competitive edge over other books in the same genre.
