Promote Your Book on Twitter with Hashtags

We had our first #SampleSunday Marathon using book bubbles last Sunday. It was a blast! We love sharing the work of our amazing Bublish authors. You can check out the Storify version in our Twitter stream @BublishMe.

#SampleSunday is a hashtag on Twitter. Hashtags are topics with the “#” symbol in front of them. They are used to allow people to engage in a conversations or discover new topics on Twitter. #SampleSunday is a hashtag for writers to share excerpts of their books and readers to sample them. Knowing and using hashtags that are popular for writers and readers as well as in your genre can help you rise above the noise in today’s crowded content marketplace.

There are many writing and reading hashtags to explore. Here is just a small sampling: #amwriting, #amreading, #book, #writerwednesday (or #ww), #writetip, #romance, #thriller, #mystery, #fantasy. Nonfiction writers can use topic hashtags. For example, if you’ve written a book on finance, you can use the #finance hashtag. It’s worth taking the time to research hashtags specific to your genre and the interests of your audience.

At Bublish, we also like to participate in regular conversations held on Twitter. #FollowReader, #TitleTalk, and #BookMarket are examples of hashtags used for either ongoing or regularly scheduled conversations. Your genre probably has its own chats, so look for those hashtags too. It’s a great way to meet other writers.

So next time you tweet, don’t forget the hashtag. Our favorite hashtag? #BookBubble and #Bublish, of course!
