“They call this type of kidnapping, One for the money, two for the show.”
“What does that even mean?”
“According to Sarah, these kidnappers have a history of taking girls in pairs. Almost always, one of the girls is from a wealthy or powerful family. A very large ransom will be demanded for the girls. If the negotiations aren’t going well, they pretend to randomly pick one and then make a show of roughing up, torturing or raping,” Janet paused, “and in, at least one case, killing the less-privileged girl. They kidnap one for the money, and the second is used as incentive or the show.”
“In this case, Ben and Rita’s granddaughter will be the girl for the show,” PB stated.
“They’ll be forced to watch,” Janet’s voice not much more than a whisper now, “an untraceable video feed of beatings and possibly worse.”
