“Would you like to be in that paradise?” he asked.
“Are you willing to give up everything—your wealth and power, the legacy of your parents, and all the things you have learned so far?”
I could not answer. I stayed silent. How could I give up everything that I worked hard for, everything that was rightfully mine, everything my parents worked hard for? How could I? My parents are important to me. I thought, I could not walk away and lead his life. Then, I thought, if it is only a dream, what is the worst that could happen, if I said yes? I could wake up in the morning like nothing had happened and go my merry way. Voila!
So, I said, “Yes. I will give up everything.”
“Are you sure?” he asked again.
“Can you give up knowing what you have known until now?”
“I can’t,” I replied, “as I already have it in my brain. How can I forget something I have already learned and practiced?”
“By learning new things.”
New things, I pondered, “New like what?”
“New, like wisdom.”
I told him that I had heard that word but thought only spiritual people who had renounced everything could have wisdom. I also realized, in a way, he had already asked me to renounce everything.
“Okay,” I said. “It is still a dream, so no harm done.”
He asked me to go into my mind’s eye and envision the paradise that had been shown to me. He then asked me to see things and pointed me to various aspects in this paradise. At some point, I lost his voice, and I was transported to the paradise itself. I saw a lion approach me. I was stunned with fear and wanted to run, but realized it was a dream and stayed on. The Lion licked my hands, laid next to me and looked at me with intent. It was as if he it was asking me to do something. I decided to sit by him and reached out for what the man had called wisdom. In my stillness, I heard the Lion.
“Save my legacy,” the Lion said clearly.
