As we walked toward the main campus, the other horse, Moonbeam, started to whinny. He grew more agitated making louder cries the farther away we got, so I doubled back and took his reins and let him walk beside me.
“Fraidy cat.” I stuck out my tongue.
Jacob came out dressed in just his shorts as I guided the horses past the cabins. “What’s up? The horses woke me.”
“Sorry, Moonbeam got upset when I rode away on Rainbow.” I tried to ignore his washboard stomach and broad shoulders. He’s your boss, I reminded myself.
He approached and rubbed Moonbeam’s mane. “Ever heard of a day off?”
