If you begin to carry any responsibility for your clients you will begin to deteriorate with them. If you find yourself working hard to get your clients to make healthy changes, you are actually carrying more and more of their burdens and they are not yours to carry.
Esther Hicks succinctly describes it this way, from a workshop in San Diego, California, on February 15, 2003:
You cannot get sick enough to help people get better. You cannot get poor enough to help people thrive. It is only in your thriving that you have anything to offer anyone. If you’re wanting to be of an advantage to others, be as tapped in, tuned in and turned on as you can possibly be.
