With her eyes bent downward, she failed to notice wisps of clingy cobwebs that were trailing from tree branches above her. The tendrils of the cobwebs trailed over her brown locks as she walked and a loathsome magic that had been woven into them began to cloud her vision and draw from her heart thoughts of light and hope. She had begun with enthusiasm and joy in her efforts to pick flowers, but those things were sucked from her heart and the light in her face dimmed until even her skin seemed ashen gray. She stopped abruptly overcome by a weariness of heart. As she stood, wondering what had come over her, shadows seemed to be moving in the branches overhead. She blinked thinking that she had imagined it, but there could soon be no doubt for the shadows began dropping down on long gray threads.
She stood still, paralyzed with terror. “What have I done?”
