“Hurt? I was deeply hurt. As you know I’ve been seeing a psychologist who has been helping me with my grieving, helping me deal with a broken relationship, helping me with my decision process, helping me deal with my open-heart surgery, and was helping me deal with loneliness. But this pain of being treated as if I did something wrong, and the subsequent rejection I felt from those who were close to me, was far more intense than all of the other pain I have experienced.”
Rick looked at me in his normal empathetic manner, “More intense? That is saying something from one who has been through all that you have.”
“I just figured I was doing everything I was supposed to do and I guess I wasn’t used to being treated as if I did something wrong. I felt shunned and it was about to get worse.”
“It was going to get worse than what you’ve just described?”
