Micah smiles at me. “So, are you ready for this journey, Lou?”
“Now? Today?”
“Yes, now. Why? Are you tired? Do you need a nap?”
I squint up at the large oak tree’s canopy, the sunlight sparkling through the tapestry of leaves. “No, I feel great. I have never felt better.” I process his suggestion of taking a nap and scoff. “And a nap? Being tired? Will I get tired here? Will I sleep here? Are there days and nights here?”
“Wow, Lou, these are very good questions and a great place for us to start.” Micah sits back in his seat, peering up at the canopy the way I was moments ago, before letting his blue eyes find mine again. “Let’s start with sleep. For your last ninety-two years, sleep was a physical necessity for your earthly body. Without it, your brain would’ve stopped working correctly, and your body would have refused to cooperate. The sleep-wake cycle is just another of the many patterns God has put into place on the earth.”
“One of many?”
