Posture
I will stand at my post.
I have an image in my mind of someone standing on a watchtower with arms outstretched and hands open, waiting for a vision from God. I imagine it that way, because our posture while waiting is critical. As I reflect on our story, some of the times when we experienced God in the most dramatic ways was when we said, “Whatever.” We will do whatever You want, go wherever You lead, whenever You tell us. It was that posture that led me to sell my business when I first sensed a call to ministry (chapter 3). It was also our posture in those months before leaving the church in Chicago and being led to Peachtree (chapter 9). That is such a hard posture to take, even now. More often than not, we negotiate with God instead of surrendering to God. However, I believe God most often speaks in extraordinary ways to those who take that posture and are prepared to respond to whatever He asks.
