In the artistic world, it is those literary creations that demonstrate a measure of personal growth that magnifies those hurdles conquered - from darkness to survival, even her release from incarceration. While growing and blossoming, she has maintained a healthier lifestyle . . . staying free of unhealthy relationships. Through her experiences, Norstrom has encountered a complete metamorphosis ─ releasing one identity for another. Living inside this transitional lifestyle she states, “I see myself as that long-blooming, rich flower waiting to attract those butterflies. It is there, I’ve come full circle having realized the dangerous effects of toxicity."

Religion, it was preached and it was practiced . . . Growing up, our parents were those old fashion churchgoers. Religion was one thing that was preached and practiced a lot throughout my #childhood environment. As children, we had to go to church. There were no second choices . . . no “ifs, ands, or buts.” In Mom’s house, Sundays meant church day and off we went to serve Him. By having a deep religious background, how could I’ve ever given up on HIM? Today, to think anyone could make that choice is in itself amazing!

Every Sunday, off to church we went. At the Baptist Church, Sunday mornings meant embracing Bible studies and morning worship services. After studying the Bible, the deacons would start with devotion as the first part of the service. The congregation would lead in by singing old gospel hymns, then praying, testifying, reading the scriptures, and taking up an offering. Once church services began around 11 a.m., there were more hymns, responsive readings, the passing of collection plates, sermons, and an altar call—but not without plenty of shouting going on. Services concluded with pastor giving his benediction (the blessings). Staying in the church really made a difference when we were growing up. Some things we just wouldn’t do because they were unrighteous. In our relationships as siblings, yeah, we fought among ourselves, but we were always mindful and respectful of others.
