Our wedding day happened as planned. Although it took twelve years, I’d found a soul mate. . . . we were finally going to have a nuclear family. This wasn’t a dress rehearsal; it was real. After working a half-day, we held our wedding at the apartment. The only decorations were the beige, white, and lavender helium balloons that read, “Congratulations! You’re Newlyweds!” I wore a cream-colored satin A-line dress with lace layered around the collar. Its wide bow sash added a special touch to the dress. Otherwise, there was really nothing fancy about it. I had on small diamond stud earrings. My makeup was set, and I had applied a shiny chocolate lip gloss. The gloss made my lips look kissable. Since I didn’t have a veil, I placed some baby’s breath through my hair.
