In the artistic world, it is those literary creations that demonstrate a measure of personal growth that magnifies those hurdles conquered - from darkness to survival, even her release from incarceration. While growing and blossoming, she has maintained a healthier lifestyle . . . staying free of unhealthy relationships. Through her experiences, Norstrom has encountered a complete metamorphosis ─ releasing one identity for another. Living inside this transitional lifestyle she states, “I see myself as that long-blooming, rich flower waiting to attract those butterflies. It is there, I’ve come full circle having realized the dangerous effects of toxicity."

A Devastating Moment In Time

This was one day I'll never forget . . . Going to the doctor has it many disappointing #moments. And this just happened to be of those unforgettable scenes. What a day it turned out to be . . .one heck of a pill to #swallow! There are many pills our doctor prescribes to us when we come in for a visit/an illness. But this "one" pill became bigger than the #stomach could dissolve . . . To this day, I'm still trying to swallow it down.

She was a petite person who didn’t wear more than a size 5 in her white nurse’s uniform. She had the most beautiful deep tan for her Caucasian complexion. Her hair was light blonde with the cutest short cut. As LaTris explained the pros and cons of the medication, I watched China’s nose wrinkle and her lips hang loose. For the first time, she showed her emotions. Perhaps it was the side effects that triggered her look of disgust:

• Appetite and fertility loss
• Hair loss or thinning
• Nausea
• Constipation
• Facial acne
• A sore mouth
• Skin and mouth dryness
• Feeling tired and run down (a result of low red blood cells)
• Low resistance to infections (due to low white blood cells)
• Bruising or bleeding easily (if platelet counts run low)
