In the artistic world, it is those literary creations that demonstrate a measure of personal growth that magnifies those hurdles conquered - from darkness to survival, even her release from incarceration. While growing and blossoming, she has maintained a healthier lifestyle . . . staying free of unhealthy relationships. Through her experiences, Norstrom has encountered a complete metamorphosis ─ releasing one identity for another. Living inside this transitional lifestyle she states, “I see myself as that long-blooming, rich flower waiting to attract those butterflies. It is there, I’ve come full circle having realized the dangerous effects of toxicity."

From Whence I Came

So much has happened through my journey and returning from whence I came. There are times now when I’ll just sit back and easily relive those precious and endearing moments. Yes, there were lots of heartaches traveling that journey. But there is never nothing refreshing about living amongst unhealthy relationships. But isn’t that what makes up this space we call a “life?” We’re living inside this topic . . . “Not a Blueprint It’s the Shoe Prints that Matter,” “A Journey Through Toxic Relationships.” Seemingly, every day, each and every day, we awaken there’s a loved one or some precious little angel whose life has been taken senselessly and selfishly. The interactions of toxicity appear to be invading our circle and crippling our surrounds. For me, this here life is like reliving inside those unhealthy relationships, all over again. But the beauty of (this time around) is that I’m in a much better place, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. HE has brought me from the darkness to the light. Most importantly, I’ve regained my faith and belief in our Maker and our Protector. That has helped tremendously! After many years, Dawn divorced her Prince Charming. She chose to live the single lifestyle with her children grown and gone. But to have married him, she was truly blessed. We still see each other regularly.

This time, reflecting back, it’s a Minnie Riperton moment: her music video clip “Memory Lane” plunges deep into the soul.

Uh-huh, whenever I hear the words, I get all choked up and teary eyed, ’cause it does move one down their own personal memory lane. Embracing Minnie’s lyrics brings me to recapturing my daughter’s shoe prints. It was as though she too “Didn’t want to go . . . Wanted to be saved . . . Had it to attack all over again . . . ” and each time we thought it was over, “It all came back with the quickness of sound . . .” Surely, patients that relapse into the disease can relate to its original

tune. The words, by this perfect angel, and her vocal range will take anyone back down memory lane, on all levels. Now, when I think of Minnie, she left us when she was only thirty-one years young in 1979, with so much left to offer. Like China, who . . . .
