Toxic emotion is a negative force that cuts completely through the body and mind, totally swallowing one up. It gnaws away until the person is stressed and emotionally drained. In a nutshell, it’s a poison erupting within the body.
We all have built-in toxic emotions. Some of us suppress them. Others release them as soon as they feel them. Either way, these emotions explode like a bomb when released. By being aware of what we are feeling, we can de-escalate our toxic emotions and replace them with positive emotions.
One way to be aware of toxic emotions is to acknowledge that no one is baggage free. Everyone has a form of emotional baggage. Such baggage is a common cause of toxic emotions and can come from a divorce, a death, or a painful childhood memory. These traumatic events cause an upwelling of negative emotions.
