“But I stand before you today to tell you that a new, more invasive threat has taken hold in Crystonia. We are no longer threatened by the Ogres and Cyclops. In point of fact, they are now in allegiance with us.” Zarius noted the shocked look on the faces of the Centaurs. “I can see that this surprises you. I understand. But you need to know the new threat is far more insidious. The new threat could destroy our dream of rule over Crystonia forever. We cannot let this happen. We must use every tool at our disposal to stop it.” As he spoke, his voice increased in volume and intensity until it reached a fever pitch. The soldiers responded to his passion and became agitated. Hooves stomped. Tails swished. Fists pumped the air.
Zarius sucked in a deep breath and let it out with a huff. He lowered his voice for dramatic effect. “I hesitate to tell you this, but you must know what we are up against. For centuries, a fairy tale has been spread around our kingdom, a fairy tale that many believe, including our brothers of the Minsheen herd. These deluded souls actually believe a creature wearing a silver breastplate will magically appear and rightfully claim the throne for themselves.” Zarius threw up has hands, shook his head, and smiled. “I know, it’s silly, but that is what they sincerely believe.”
