Author Biography

I am a wife, a mom and a grandmother. I am also a competitive equestrian and award-winning author. I especially love to write about horses, both real or fantasy. In 2016, I released, "In the Heart of a Mustang." This story is not a fantasy but it is all about horses. This coming of age young adult novel has won the 2016 Gold Medal from the Literary Classics Awards in Young Adult General Fiction and the Silver Medal in the Nautilus Awards as well as the Silver Medal from Readers Favorite Awards. My current project is a four-part series titled “The Centaur Chronicles”. I am excited about this new middle-grade fantasy. The first book, “The Stone of Mercy,” was released on Oct. 1, 2016. It has already garnered several awards including the Gold Medal from the Feathered Quill awards. Fame Comes a Little Late!

It is said that timing is everything! The four men, calling themselves the Overland Westerners, expected fame and fortune by riding to every state capitol and completing their journey at the World's Fair. Their journey took from May 1,1912 to June 1,1915. They completed their difficult travels right on schedule but their accomplishment was not celebrated. In fact, it was ignored. Perhaps it just wasn't the right time. Now, over one hundred years later, I am doing my best to give them the recognition they deserve. Last night, "PINTO!" received its TENTH literary award! The Chanticleer International book awards gave it first place for best in category in the Gertrude Warner Middle Grade Book awards!

Whenever the men were with us, they talked about the long journey we were soon to embark upon.

“There’s gold at the end of the rainbow and the rainbow is landing in San Francisco on June first three years from now. We’re going to be there to collect it,” George Beck said, over and over.

“The World’s Fair, the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, is going to be a huge event,” Charles Beck said, who the men started calling ‘Slim.” Fiddling with the knots on the pack, he continued: “People from all over the world will be there to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. It is going to open on February 20,1915, and run until almost Christmas.”
