“Do horses sleep?”
“Yeah. But Smokey once told me they only sleep for short snatches at a time, part of their survival instinct. They can even sleep standing up. I guess their knees and hocks can lock so they don’t fall over.”
“Really?”
“That’s what Smokey said.”
“Hum-m-m,” Hunter responded as he stared toward the black night trying to encroach on their cabin through the window. “Do you think she remembers her training from today?”
“Remember what Smokey says about the two sides of the horse’s brain…the thinking side and the reacting side?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, our job is to help them develop more of the thinking side. Seems to me that the better we do that the more they remember.”
