Long before your child goes to school you must educate them about bullies. This is the only way to protect them.
The parent must let their child know that they should feel sorry for bullies. Let the child know that kids who are bullies do it because they feel bad about themselves. Bullies feel that they are not worthwhile and are mean to other kids because they are very sad inside.
Let the child know that the bully is not being mean because they don’t like your child. They are being mean because they feel insecure and lonely. Tell them also many time bullies pick on kids because the child has something they wished they had. Sometimes they pick on kids because they are being picked on or abused at home.
If the parent has armed the child with the truth before they meet their first bully, then the child has a chance of surviving the bullying. Both physically and psychologically.
What to do if your child is being bullied.
There is no excuse for the school or caregiver to allow bullying. If a child is bullied to the point of wanting to or actually hurting themselves, the bully should be held responsible. They should be held just as responsible as if they had shot the child with a gun or hit them with a rock. The parent needs to seek out the highest authority and demand that the bully be removed if not arrested.
The law needs to change about school bullying. The bullies and their parents need to be held accountable. Bullying is a crime.
