As I write this book there is a cultural acceptance of childhood obesity. Partly because our eating habits are so skewed from past generations.
In the past, great quantities of food were necessary because we were a much more active society. We burned off much more energy and needed a large amount of calories. Now we don't. Currently, in first world countries, we are a basically sedentary society. We sit at desks, we sit in front of computer monitors and video games. We play with cel phones instead of sports. Because of this, our food/caloric intake has to be modified.
Many children that suffer from obesity live in families where everyone in the family is overweight. They learn their eating habits from their parents and long before they are making their own nutrition decisions, bad decisions are being made for them by their parents.
As a new parent you must make a decision about how you are going to manage your child's health. You must put away, or not buy, the food with empty calories. You must remember that YOU are driving your child's car. Whatever he becomes as a child, you are responsible for.
Early you must decide how you want to build your child. An do that.
