The time of the Showcase Design was close, so Wendy headed to Claudia’s office to talk, in more detail, about the displays for the Convention Center. Claudia was eager to get the drawings finalized. Wendy admired the detail of the living room layout Claudia showed her. Wendy placed x’s on the places in the living room where she wanted to put the plants as well as floral arrangements.
“I like the idea of the rubber tree plant right here,” Wendy stated as she pointed to the spot.
“I think it’s a perfect spot.” Claudia brought out the patio drawing showing where the white wrought iron table would be set, with four matching chairs, two for each side with cushions.
“Looks good, Claudia.”
“Thanks, I’m going to check the final details for the living room on the other drawing. You go ahead and indicate where you want to put whatever you have decided on or put a question mark if you aren’t sure.” She handed Wendy the sketch. “Go ahead and draw on it if you want. You can take it home.”
“Thanks. Do you know when our display will be set up at the Convention
Center?”
“I think Tuesday. I’ll let you know for sure in a few days.”
“Good. I’m anxious to see the setup.”
“I don’t blame you.”
Wendy sat at a table in Claudia’s office, looked over the sketches and tentatively placed the names of a few plants in the patio area. She finished and showed it to Claudia.
“What do you think of these plant locations?”
Claudia took a minute to study the plan. “Looks good. I’ll know for sure when we put everything in place. But I don’t foresee any changes unless you make them.”
“Thank you. I don’t think there is anything else I can do right now. I’ll still need to think about which plants I want for other positions.”
“I understand perfectly.”
“Thanks, I’m going to take off.”
Wendy’s enthusiasm increased now that the Convention Center show approached. What a great opportunity to share her designs and intermingle with other designers. Wendy put the plans into a folder, then into her briefcase. She drove to the nursery.
The man Wendy hired, Jim, was busy when Wendy arrived. He made a great addition…extremely helpful with many things neither Carol nor Wendy could do like lifting heavy items.
The next day Claudia called and told her the set up would be on Tuesday. Wendy met with Claudia on Friday to finalize the plans.
“What do you think, Wendy? Are you ready for this?”
“I am. I have the plants and containers. When do we take everything to the Convention Center?”
“The truck will pick up everything at my warehouse, if you will get your stuff there on Monday, they will deliver it that day and we’ll set up on Tuesday.”
“No problem. I’ll meet you at the Convention Center on Tuesday. What time?”
“Ten.”
They discussed more details about the set up and Wendy left for the Cove. She was stoked and hungered for a rapturous good time.
