“Thanks. I’m not sure I’ll even go around there anymore.” Wendy pulled back. “I can’t believe you said that you like being there.”
“I don’t care anymore. I don’t want to go back to a place that has caused me such pain. There are other hunks out there I can dig and maybe will appreciate me more. Once in a while I still see Kenny. At least I’ll have more time for him and maybe someone else will come into my life.”
Wendy hurt for Cindy. “I’m glad you have a positive attitude about this.”
“It’s taken me awhile to face the reality. I will dream on and keep on truckin’.”
Wendy held her hands in Cindy’s. “Good for you.”
“Thanks for being here for me after I ignored you for so long.”
“It’s okay. I understand.”
They finished lunch and agreed to get together later in the week.
What will happen next at the Cove? Wendy pondered. She also wondered what would happen to Cindy and Brad’s relationship. If he’s hardly speaking to her, is that the indication it has ended?
Jake called to inform her the realtor he hired had found a buyer for Fireplace Grill. In three weeks, it would close temporarily while the new owner made changes.
The next day they met in the parking lot of the Grill. Her cousin held a bag with the sign about the closure, and its reopening under new management. He handed the bag to Wendy. They drove there to notify Adam and display the sign.
They walked into a lively group of about a dozen people. Two people waved at Wendy when they saw her near the entrance. She waved back. Her concern was their reaction when she told them they were selling the place. They headed to the bar.
