Synopsis

Amidst the peace, love and social upheaval of the early 1970’s, Wendy Murray is ready to take the plunge into a new life. She separates from her husband, takes a chance on her dreams by opening an indoor plant nursery, and abandons her conservative lifestyle, diving head first into the era’s decadent nightclub scene.

With her best friend Cindy along for the adventure, Wendy falls in love, reinvents herself and must navigate relationships with numerous men, all while her estranged husband makes frequent reappearances. When her self-confidence grows and her ambitions in business overshoot her realities, Wendy’s world becomes too much to handle, and she plummets into escapism and drug use.

Through triumphs and challenges, Wendy slowly comes to realize the potential that was always within her. Author Biography

Lynne Brightman Horn is a highly experienced educator, who graduated from Cal-State Long Beach and obtained a Secondary Teaching Credential. With a remarkable 38-year career teaching, her dedication to education has inspired countless students throughout their journey. Beyond teaching, Lynne has also delved into the world of creative writing, with her talent being recognized through a one-act play adaptation of her short story. A Woman in Search Of…is her second published novel. In her leisure time, Lynne can often be found engrossed in a good book or penning her own thoughts and ideas. She also enjoys working her garden and spending quality time with beloved children and grandchildren.

A Woman in Search Of...

It was such a thrill to have her nursery continue to do well. Word of mouth certainly helped. Several customers came in every week, some to check out anything new, or as two of them told her, “We just love to be here.” Wendy’s creativity and devotion to the nursery brought her complete satisfaction but to design with others will be a thrill. As a youngster, she used to draw pictures of cats and color them in. Her mother encouraged her to draw other animals and trees in the yard.

But, watching her mother work in the garden, not only motivated Wendy to draw but to take part in the beauty in the garden. She and her mother spent hours planting all sorts of plant varieties especially her mom’s favorites: Oriental lilies, irises, and rose bushes. The varieties came in different colors, all of them lit up in late spring and summer. Wendy enjoyed being with her mother in such special way.
