A Woman in Search Of...

The first project was cleaning the place up, especially getting rid of old debris and junk left behind by the previous owners. Some of the chipped concrete on the walls were fixed. One of the next jobs included painting the inside. The color Wendy picked out, a very pale green, gave a perfect look as the background allowed for the plants to stand out.

She enjoyed the great camaraderie with her group of friends. Carol, Judy and Mary Ann, from the gardening club, were very hard workers and were there almost every day. A few guys from the garden club also came several times and were very helpful with the heavier projects. Other members came once in a while and she was thrilled to have them too. Wendy ordered pizza and Chinese food for lunches. It took three days to finish all the painting. When completed, Wendy hired a handyman she knew. He built the pond and stream of naturally colored concrete and on the outside were attached rocks of varying sizes and shapes. At one end of the pond a waterfall fell and a stream flowed down and recycled back up to the waterfall. Across from the pond Wendy watched as the handyman finished a three-foot high wooden planter to be used to transplant plants when customers bought them and wanted them placed in something other than the green plastic pots they came in. The office and bathroom were updated, and a new six-foot-long front counter was installed. The glass roof she ordered would open and close, depending on the weather of course. Just below the roof a white, lattice cover was going to be inserted to block out the strong sun. If there were no hitches and everyone continued to help, she expected the grand opening to be in two months, maybe less.
