This is just a slice of life from my childhood that was a slice of life from my mother's young adulthood, as a young mom. She wrote about it in her forties, and I came across it in my 50's...long after she was gone. Just a part of both our lives, just a part of this book, just a memory...what our lives are made of.

Tishi: Refugee, Immigrant, Mother
We took a long, cold, snowy drive through Canada to visit some college friends of Lynn’s on our way to New York. We drove over frozen lakes, saw a professional hockey game and went to an almost frozen Niagara Falls. Ithaca, New York was also thick with ice and snow when we arrived there. We rented a small, two story, three bedroom house. We had acquired some furniture in Pullman and had sent it ahead with Mayflower. The movers did not arrive for two weeks. We decided never to use that moving company again.
