It’s Really Cool … To Be an Iguana!
It’s really cool … to be an Iguana.
We’re strange creatures from a time “once-a-pona.”
As a reptile, we’ve survived from a far-off time.
Like ‘Gators and Crocs, we live in warm climes.
Our leathery skin’s dry and rough to the touch;
It conserves moisture, in dry climates and such.
For humans we make really great pets;
Frightful to look at, but gentle’s it gets.
When hungry, we’re a statue ‘till a meal comes by,
Then like lightning we grab it … right on the fly.
We’re a sensation at parties; we have lots of fun.
We’ll ride on your shoulders and flick out our tongue.
We bask all day in the very hot sun.
It’s warmth we need; it helps us to run.
We need sun’s heat to make us go,
‘Cause when it’s cold, we’re really, really slow!
My cousins are many, both lizards and snakes,
From Skinks to Rattlers (those last give me the shakes);
From tiny to huge, like our Komodo Dragon;
He’s one to be careful never to “rag-on.”
We live with you mammals and birds of the world.
We live in our niche where our flag is unfurled.
Reptiles united, we do what we “wanna.”
It’s really cool … to be an Iguana.
