Ape
It’s Really Cool … To Be an Ape!
It’s really cool … to be an Ape.
Of mammals, we have the highest rate.
I live on the mountain with my jungle bunch.
We eat jungle greens, breakfast, dinner and lunch.
We live high up, far from human kind.
They’re apes too, or so we’ve a mind.
And they climb up just our tribe to meet;
Searching us out at our tribal seat.
They then bend their heads, and look down
So Dad won’t run and jump around.
They whisper and note how we eat and play;
We pretend not to know what they have to say.
But when they leave, we gather ‘round
To discuss their study on our jungle home ground,
And plan activities for their visit next time;
Fun entertainment that won’t cost them a dime!
We play with our kids … they take pictures and such,
Dad Ape will play angry, but just not too much.
Don’t scare them off … must be careful there;
Must keep ‘em coming; be Park-profit aware.
Our jungle’s a Park now; it’s really great.
Rangers protect us from a hunting fate.
This life of ours, with all my mates―
It’s really cool … to be an Ape.
