Your Voice in Your Writing Needs to Be Strong
First … be consistent. Second … don’t be passive. In writing nonfiction, you are writing to an audience with your sage advice, help, how-tos and/or solutions. Avoid writing with the “WE” thing. Write with “we” when it’s a joint writing: we recommend. Otherwise, it’s I recommend you … or I recommend that ... Your reader is the YOU … your audience who is chewing on your words. You are delivering guidance to them. Yes, in some cases, literally taking the reader by the hand.
TIP: When you write in a passive voice; you open the “maybe” window. You want your reader to “take action.”
