Settled into their conference room, Robin suggested, “Frannie, read us your paper and see if we can figure out why you got a C.”
Reluctantly, Frannie spread the paper on the table in front of her and read aloud softly. After only a few paragraphs, Katie interrupted, “I think I see the problem. You’re describing the reading assignment. The paper was supposed to explore the influence that Louis Pasteur’s germ theory had on the future of health. Frannie, instead of thinking, What did I learn? ask yourself, What difference did it make? “
Frannie thought a moment. “So, I should have written about how the discovery changed the way people lived. That’s not hard. It’s just a different way of looking at things.”
“You’re catching on.” Robin grinned. “There’s hope for you yet.”
