Let’s create the partnerships. We have 30 students in the class. Beginning here,” she said, indicating the first seat in the first row, “start with number one and count off in sequence to 15. The sixteenth person will begin again with number one. The two students with the same number will be partners. Find seats together and then I’ll provide the details for the project.”
Katie said, “Thirteen,” then turned to see who would become her partner.
Robin poked Katie when a tall, good-looking guy said thirteen. “Looks like you got a keeper, Katie. If he’s as smart as he is handsome, your project’s gonna rock! He can sit here. I’m gonna go check out my other half.”
Katie made eye contact with her partner and nodded toward Robin’s vacated seat. He waved and gathered his books. “Douglas,” he said, holding out his hand. “Douglas Crow.”
