Frannie sat on the arm of Leslie’s chair and gave her a hug. “You know,” she said, “it’s not always about the nursing care we give a patient; sometimes it’s simply that we care.”
“That’s exactly how I feel,” Katie said, “and it’s the kind of nursing that attracts me… where the quality time we spend with patients and their families is what they treasure most. Community nursing sounds like the right place for me. I certainly don’t care much for hospital routines and time constraints.”
“Well, you can have it,” Leslie said with conviction. “I’m sticking with the OR where I can be focused and organized, and I like the challenge of each patient’s case, except 3-11 is killing me.”
