“Just last week,” Mrs. Rockford began, “we celebrated the fifty-first anniversary of an important milestone in our country. On August 26, 1910, the 19th Amendment was ratified. It gave women in America the right to vote. Last week, to commemorate that event, Congresswoman Bella Abzug submitted a resolution to Congress to designate August 26th as Women’s Equality Day.”
There were some audible groans. “Gentlemen, make no mistake… women’s equality is important for men as well. Along with recognition and freedom comes responsibility. Men no longer bear the weight of running the country alone. Competition for employment makes the workforce stronger and motivates individuals to be prepared to compete for the positions they want.”
