“What’s so funny?” Robin said.
“I was just picturing some tired woman with three kids in tow getting short with you because you’re not ringing her purchases up fast enough.”
“She can wait until I’m through. There’s no reason to rush and make mistakes. By the way, I think this carousel has gone around a zillion times already, and I still don’t see my suitcase.”
Gram’s grin widened. “You might want to think twice about working where the customer is always right… even when they aren’t. It would be a great opportunity for you to develop some restraint, but are you sure you’re up for that kind of responsibility?”
Robin’s defensive expression morphed into a grin. “I love you, Gram. You’ve always had a knack for telling me just what I need to hear without lecturing me. Why hasn’t that wonderful trait rubbed off on me in all the years I’ve lived with you? I guess in your face is a better description of me, huh?”
“Sweetheart, I’m proud of the woman you’re becoming. There’s no one on this earth who doesn’t have some behavior they should work on. Being blunt isn’t the worst trait you could have, but the saying you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar hasn’t been around for centuries for nothing.”
“Okay. I’ll put, learn to be nice, on my to do list for the summer.
