Collaboration is an exploration strategy with the goal of considering all options in crafting the resolution that best supports the partnership objectives. Use of collaboration strategies creates a problem-solving environment where the partners evaluate alternatives and consider the facts. Through collaboration and productive dialogue, partners can produce a more creative and robust resolution than any of the original alternatives. 104 Collaboration can be successful only when those involved aligned on the partnership’s core values are fully assertive and cooperative, and are willing to explore alternatives without bias.
