Lucia, Nic, and Jack tell congruent stories of life in The Nation and in the Dissentient as everything reaches its boiling point and each must decide what they are willing to risk to save the lives of their fellow citizens from the Supreme Sovereign’s rule: Life, Love, or Truth.
I am a young adult sci-fi/fantasy author and children's book author and illustrator. I've been a middle school teacher for 8 years. When I'm not writing, I do yoga, eat gluten-free, and fangirl over Doctor Who.
In this passage Jack is experiencing something...is it death? We can't really be sure--yet. The Beacon is the conclusion to The Lucia Chronicles trilogy and offers the reader three unique first person perspectives (that of Lucia, Nic, and Jack) as well as a middle section told in the third person omniscient.
Book Excerpt
The Beacon: The Lucia Chronicles Book 3
I’m floating in a sort of nothingness. No time, no space. So this is it. This is what the end feels like? Very anti-climactic if I do say so myself. I’m suspended in the air, well more accurately, suspended in space. There’s nothing going forward or backward. The nothingness is thick, palpable, like I could reach out and touch it if I wanted to. It feels heavy as it presses into me from all sides.
