“I am fine. Just sore.” Before he can stop me, I reach out and yank the collar of his t-shirt over to my right, exposing his left shoulder, which is a reddish-purple. His clavicle juts out slightly, forming a bump just beneath the skin.
“That’s not sore,” I accuse.
“Okay, so it’s not just sore.” He shrugs with his good shoulder and carefully pulls his shirt out of my fingertips.
“We need to go back.”
His green eyes grow serious. “You know we can’t do that. Once we go back, the portal is sealed. You’ll never be able to retrieve the Wood stone. And then what?”
