O’Keefe smiled, sliding the envelope over to her. He left it sitting on the table and withdrew his hand. The two of them continued watching each other. Suzanne made no attempt to reach for the envelope.
“Name’s Patrick Sean O’Keefe ma’am, but most people call me Pat or Patty. Other acquaintances call me by other names. I hope you’ll call me Pat.”
O’Keefe held out his hand and smiled. By most standards, O’Keefe was quite handsome. He had a full head of blond hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion. He gained weight over the years, but all things considered, remained in rather good shape for someone forty-five years old. His quick wit and Irish accent made him extremely popular with the ladies wherever he went.
Suzanne took his hand and shook it and the hint of a smile appeared on her face. After releasing her grip, she pulled the envelope to her and counted the money. She looked back up at O’Keefe, “Well, Pat, it’s a pleasure to meet you and to do business with Mr. Osaka. Does he send you to charm all the female contacts he uses?”
O’Keefe laughed, “We didn’t know the contact was a lady, but if we did, I would have been here either way. May I buy you dinner?”
