Emily reached the three people and stood before the man in the center. There was recognition in his eyes, but before he could say anything, Emily balled up her fist, striking him square in the jaw, knocking him back against the wall of the cave.
“Damn, Em!” said Justin, wiping blood from his lip as he pushed himself away from the wall. “All your sister did was slap me. Why’d you have to go for a punch?”
Emily threw her arms around her cousin and kissed him on the cheek. “You son of a bitch, making us all think you were dead. Your mom’s going to kill Uncle Jon for keeping this from her all this time!”
“Come on, you two.” Sean took his cousin away from his brother, giving her a hug. “There isn’t time for this. Justin, get that comm equipment passed out and set up. Dad wants to get going.”
Justin nodded to his brother. Sean looked down at his cousin. “Thanks for helping them get out, Em.”
“Look who came to take us home—you and Daddy.”
“Family first,” said Sean, hugging his cousin one more time.
