Hi, I’m Eric. Well, crap, I have lied to you already and I wasn’t even three words in. My name is not really Eric. For many reasons, primarily career related (but also to protect whatever shred of self-respect I have for myself), I am anonymizing my real name for now. However, I do promise everything else that I have written in this book is true, I think.
The name “Eric” was chosen by my significant other because of her love for Eric Bana, who I must admit is a pretty manly man, especially in Troy.
Maybe when I retire, I will feel comfortable exposing myself. (Yeah, I said it.) Or maybe once the media has spent a long enough time clamoring, I will reveal my true name. I envision it as the most anticipated reveal in history, even more than the revelation that Andy Kaufman has been alive for the past 38 years.
I admit, there are some weird and “out there” concepts in this book. There are also some very personal revelations. However, both myself and my significant other—whom I will henceforth call “Alexandra” (in honor of the love of my life, Alexandra Daddario, whom I have permission from my “Alexandra” to leave her for)—felt like we wouldn’t be revealing the true impact of my experiences with cannabis if we didn’t talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly. We wanted to be completely truthful, open, and honest with you so that you can hopefully apply what we have gone through to your life.
Whether this is with your parents, your siblings, your significant other, or even your guinea pigs, we hope you can take what we have been able to experience and find a way to make deeper connections with those in your lives. Your connections may not look exactly like ours, but that’s okay. The point is to help you identify if and when these connections are taking place, and what to do when they present themselves in your life. To us, these connections have been life changing and eye-opening. Please know that I would not use that phrase if I didn’t feel like using cannabis has significantly changed my life in a positive way.
