Synopsis

This children's book addresses the behavior of bullying in our schools and other areas of our society. The fictional characters resolve bullying by applying Christian principles, proper communication, and understanding to end the conflict, crucial for the early development of sound, moral values fostering an attitude of kindness over hatred. The reader can engage themselves in the story as it develops with the interactive questions at the end of each chapter. The questions will pull the reader in and put them in the characters' place to see how they might, handle the situation. These questions will help the child learn biblical examples and verses, helping to live out the proper behavior rather than an inappropriate one which undoubtedly will lead to more trouble.

Love can heal all wounds.

This story is of a fictional but very true-to-life set of circumstances for a ten-year-old boy whose family moves to a new town and puts him in a new school where he encounters the school Bully. He feels lost in his emotions and is very concerned about dealing with this new chapter in his life. So many children in our schools, sporting events, and online platforms are being picked on and Bullied today. It is now escalating to a much deeper emotional trauma that can stick with them throughout their life if not dealt with properly. The mission here is to teach children at a young age through Christian principles and good moral values that Bullying is not an acceptable solution to any conflict. Violence will not take away the feelings and emotions driving the anger behind the behavior of Bullying. Children who are being Bullied need to stand up for themselves in a way that will not bring more harm to the situation by learning peaceful conflict resolution. The words of Jesus Christ, as written so many years ago, still to this day display such a truth that will translate into our modern lives when applied that can and will change the life of the one that chooses to follow them. More and more students today are living in a world full of pressures and challenges which come in all shapes and sizes and know no age boundaries. At times those pressures can be unrealistic and unmet expectations, academic challenges, or many other things. Far too often, the challenges our students face today come at the hands of a peer.

As a parent, I believe the content delivered in this book will open the door to better communication with your children. Often, it can be challenging for a student to know when and even how to talk to his or her parents about the pressures they are facing. But the tools that James has given in this book, I believe, will really help to open those lines of communication.

In my time as a teacher, and now as a Student Ministries Pastor, I have seen bullying affect many of the social settings our children are a part of today. In the time I have known James, it is very easy for me to see that he has a heart and a passion for students who are dealing with these pressures. As you read through the pages of this story, it will be easy for you to see this and his convictions.

James has not only chosen to write a story for kids to read and enjoy but has given parent/leader guides that will be great for a family discussion or a group study. I love his passion that is evident in this engaging story, as well as taking it another step by giving tools to help with the application of what the readers are learning to apply to their own unique situations. The questions are designed to promote open conversation by helping to build confidence and deeper relationships with God, their parents, the leaders they look to for support, and their peers.

This book reinforces that a child doesn’t need to feel alone in any situation. God is always with them, and they can ask Him for help, as Davy learns to do throughout the story.
