After school, I head over to Zack’s place and start to make dinner. I see on the counter is my birth control pills and slip them into my purse. Zack obsessively picks up my pills each month for the last two years. He constantly digs through my purse to make sure that I am taking them. Not that I have ever skipped, but he still checks.
While the pasta is boiling, I start to look over my notes for my test. My throat feels sore, so I am drinking down some orange juice when Zack comes through the garage door. He rushes over to me, kissing me roughly then pushes a package into my hands. I peek in the bag to see a designer pastel pink cropped lace bustier top and matching lace boy shorts. I giggle placing the bag on the counter. Our love making over the years got kinky. From toys to bondage, Zack kept it very interesting and never a boring moment.
Zack points to the boiling water. “After dinner, we have to take a drive over to my father’s house. He has an update on my mother’s cancer.”
Covering my mouth as I cough, then nodding my head. “Okay, there’s a possibility that I have to go home tonight. My mother is getting on my case again about being with you all the time.”
He scowls, “All these years we have been together, you would think she would see that I only have good intentions.”
Pouring the pasta into the strainer, “And this is why Peter didn’t want to come back home after college.”
He shakes his head, “Will she ever approve of me?”
Shrugging my shoulders as I plate the food. “She never approved of any of Peter’s girlfriends either.”
He groans, “She’s stricter now that you’re twenty years old, then when you were fifteen.”
Frowning as I put the plates on the counter. “She didn’t know that we weren’t having sex back then, but now she knows. Mom went into my purse and saw the pills. We had a huge argument about it.”
He scowls at me, “When did this happen?”
“Over the summer and it wasn’t pretty.”
He huffs, “Why didn’t you tell me? You shouldn’t have to face these things alone.”
Swallowing my pasta so I can speak, “I didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable around dad.”
He shakes his head, “Five years together and she didn’t think we were going to fall deeper. It was bound to happen and at least I make sure you’re protected.”
I start coughing out again. “I don’t know what to tell you, Zack.” I drink down some water.
He stares across the center island studying me. “You look flushed. Are you feeling okay?”
Inhaling sharply, “I have a sore throat and a cough. I heard some of the guys coughing in the frat house, maybe I caught their cold.”
Zack crinkles his forehead, “Have I told you lately that I really hate you hanging around over there. Some of those guys can’t be trusted.”
