Marti leaned against his bare chest as they stood at the balcony doors. She felt safe just inside the balcony with his arm resting on her waist. Raising her glass, she made a toast, "To our sunset." She took a sip of champagne. "I like the bubbles."
Chuck took a drink and sighed, "I like how they make me feel. I can still speak a little German when I’ve had a couple of glasses."
"Oh, speak to me in German."
Leaning down to her ear, Chuck whispered, "Du bist meine frau."
Marti turned to look over her shoulder,"I like the sound of that; something about my girl, right? Say it again."
Lifting her hair with his fingers, Chuck looked into her eyes,"Du bist meine frau."
She smiled covering her hand with his at her waist before turning back to the sunset. The city lights were just beginning to show colors as dusk approached. With the dampness hanging in the air, it felt like a moment of slow motion with each element moving gracefully together.
Marti sighed, "I could stand here for hours with you and watch life go by."
Squeezing her closer to him, Chuck kissed her hair, "Ja, ich stimme."
Just as the air began to cool, the room’s phone rang. Chuck picked up, "Hello."
The front desk notified him the food had arrived. "I’ll be right down," Chuck replied.
Looking at Marti, he asked, "May I borrow my shirt for a minute?"
"Sure," she said pulling it down her arms and passing it to him.
"I’ll be right back."
"Ask the front desk if they have silverware and plates," suggested Marti closing the door.
While he was gone, Marti pulled two chairs around a small corner table. Just enough space for two. Now, is there a candle somewhere? Walking into the bathroom, she found decorative candles around the bath tub. A candlelight bath. That might be fun later.
By the time Chuck returned with the food, Marti had the table ready with champagne and candlelight so it fit the mood of the room.
Handing her a cloth bag, Chuck explained, "The table settings are inside. I’ll pull out the food while you finish the table."
After dressing the salad and slicing the chicken breast, Chuck plated the food and added crusty Sourdough bread to finish the meal.
"Voila, Madam, your meal is served."
"It smells wonderful." Looking at him, she smiled, "Don’t you think you’re overdressed?" Waving her hand down her body, "If I’m eating in this, shouldn’t you at least be in your skivves?"
"I don’t wear skivves, Marti, but I think you’re right. It’s time to relax. "
He began taking off his shirt while he kicked off his shoes. She stepped forward to unzip his pants and stroke her hand over his chest.
"Why, Thank you, Ma’am." His hand covered hers as he unhooked the top snap letting the pants drop. Kissing her lightly, he pulled out her chair to seat her before taking his seat.
Marti looked across the table at him. The candlelight made his skin bronze and his chest hair was highlighted by the flickers of light. With his dark hair and brown eyes, he looked sexy.
"I feel like I’m eating with a naked pirate," she giggled. "You didn’t get any tattos while you were in the Army? Surely that was a temptation."
"Not really. I’m afraid of needles," Chuck confessed with a slow grin. He laced his fingers with hers. "But, I’ll hold your hand while you get one."
