She had ordered the spiciest item on the menu. She craved spice, and indulging that craving helped to calm her other cravings, which were especially strong today. She dug in, hoping to keep her senses while talking to Malik. She was weak from not feeding on human blood for a while and she was hoping to hide that from him.
She watched his reactions as he read, waiting for the moment when his attitude changed to acceptance. Without this, she knew she would never be given the permission she needed. But he got to the end of the article and still looked skeptical.
“A hundred and fifty people were attacked, apparently all by just two women. Only a few died and as far as anyone can tell they didn’t die due to injuries sustained in the attack. Everyone healed super fast. I’m sure that this is Nissa. She succumbed to bloodlust and this is proof.” She argued her point but knew she had already lost.
He took his time reading through the article again, not once, but twice. She knew it was only for show at this point, he was trying to make it seem as though he were taking her seriously. Then he looked up at her.
“You aren’t really telling me that you think this was the work of vampires are you?”
