If you found a stone whose magic could change your life, how would you use its power?
Michelangelo did his best work in Rome. Some people believe in a magical stone he found on his journey from Florence to Rome, a stone that was said to have the power to release his inner imagination. He returned the stone to the same place he had discovered it, a place steeped in mystery and magic, before returning to Florence.
At the brink of despair, Tom Parker recalls Michelangelo's tale and stumbles upon a stone of similar legend. He yearns to harness its power to resurrect his failing business and win the love of his life. But just as he is about to deliver the speech that could turn his advertising company's fate, the stone is snatched away, and Tom's mind goes blank, forgetting the best presentation he had ever conceived. Will he recover the stone? Will he salvage his business and win the girl?

Drew Bankston lives in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two amazingly perfect dogs, and a garden.
Before he started writing science fiction, Drew received his bachelor’s degree in Bio-Ag Sciences from Colorado State University. After that, just to shake things up, he never really used that degree but worked various jobs in retail and Asset Protection with some really important people who are way too dignified to be named here. He’s still working but would eventually like to write full-time and stop working for other people. He likes pie and chocolate, as everyone should.

As adults, our daydreams often pale in comparison to the wild worlds we conjured as children. Remember when the ordinary became extraordinary? When you could soar through galaxies with ease?
In 'The Imagination Stone,' Tom Parker is a man living in a "gray world" of corporate rivalry until he discovers the secret to rekindling that spectacular creativity.
I wrote this scene to capture the exact moment the 'Gray World' finally cracks open. As adults, we’re taught to see a rooftop and a rising sun. But through the lens of The Imagination Stone, I wanted Tom (and the reader) to see the green-cheese moon and the cosmic picnic. It’s a reminder that reclaiming our childhood wonder doesn't just change what we see, it changes who we are.

The Imagination Stone
The building had never seen anyone there this early, let alone on its rooftop. But that was where Tom stood, his back toward the rising sun. He had been there most of the early morning, almost half the night, watching the last of the night stars twinkle and fade. He held the stone tightly in his hand. With its help, he saw astronauts playing tag in the star-studded sky, space creatures of varying sizes having picnics by the shores of the oceans of Venus, and shapes and colors of all types on and around planets. He saw those planets floating past the moon and saw the moon as if it were made of green cheese and, of course, a gigantic space mouse ready to nibble here and there on the savory moon!
