“We have a two o’clock appointment with Mr. Beringer. I know we’re a little early, but I wanted him to know that we’re here, ready and excited to show him how we can help his company,” Tom said.
“Thank you,” the smiling receptionist replied, almost laughing at Tom’s enthusiasm. “I’ll let him know that you’re here. May I have your name please?”
“ Oh, of course. I’m sorry. Yes, my name is Tom Parker.”
As much as her smile lit up the room, her lack of smiling cast a dark shadow over everything. Tom knew this because as soon as his name hit her ears, the smile left her face. “I’m sorry,” she said in a tone much less friendly that a moment ago, “did you say Tom Parker? From the Parker Ad Agency?”
