Mentally, Tom threw his hands in the air. He could just walk away, go to his meeting, forget about this woman and never think about her again. But that wasn’t him. That wasn’t who Tom Parker was, and that wasn’t what he would be able to do. He couldn’t just walk away, so he walked back over to her and said, “It’s okay. I’ll help you put it all back.”
“Are you sure?” the old woman asked. “I don’t want to keep you from your business.”
“It’s fine,” Tom said, but he knew that this might cost him the campaign in exchange for a good feeling of helping. He just hoped that his client and his team would understand.
