“I understand,” Jim said. “So be skeptical and ask your questions, then judge the facts that I’m about to give you. You’ve known me for a long time and you know I’m a sensible guy.”
Lyn tilted her head and said, “Well….”
“Okay, okay,” Jim laughed. “But more sensible than most or at least, more sensible than many.”
“Agreed,” Lyn said. “But I also know that you’ve logged many more hours at science fiction conventions than the normal human being. So in that particular realm of reality, it doesn’t come to your rescue in all of this, especially how you’re starting out. Don’t make this ‘amazing story’ something that becomes so fantastic that it’s impossible for me to believe.”
Jessi looked at Jim. “Science fiction conventions? You?”
“Not always, but sometimes. Anyway, we’re getting off track here, and Jessi, you can I can discuss conventions later. This has nothing to do with science fiction. It’s serious and factual. Will you listen with an open mind?”
