Facing the Truth
It was difficult for me to write this book. These things that happened in my life, to my kids and grandkids, made it hard to relive each moment, but I felt that it was a story that needed to come out in the open. So many times these things happen to families, and so many times they are covered up and the stories are never told. The cycle continues. This was just a small turning point in the story, but a turning point none the less. Please read this short excerpt from "The Monster's Lap" and let me know if I can answer any questions. Let's stop this cycle of abuse!

The Monster's Lap: Based on a True Story
Sharon turned to go into her apartment and went up the stairs when the officer asked, “Do you mind if we step in for a moment?”
“Not at all,” Sharon said, and invited them to step inside.
The officers stood next to the doorway while Sharon trotted upstairs. She knocked quietly at the door.
“Yeah?” came Charles’ voice from the other side.
“Um, the police are here to check with you about your registry status,” Sharon said.
“O….kay,” Charles said. “I’ll be down as soon as I can.”
“They’re waiting in the house, so if you could hurry that would be great.”
Sharon went back down stairs. “He’ll be right down,” she told the officers.
When Charles came down, he had a look mixed with concern and whimsy. “Hi,” Charles said. “Can I help you?”
“Mr. Pantane,” the male officer said, “I’m officer Douglas. Would you mind stepping outside with me for a moment so that we can talk?”
