Sharon walked in and sat on a loveseat in the small interview room.
The interview was conducted. Cheryl asked if Sharon knew anything about the accusations that Charles had been abusing Julie and asked if she had noticed anything at all, different with Charles or Julie.
“I haven’t seen anything different,” Sharon said. “Charles would never do anything to hurt Julie. He loves her.”
“I’m wondering if you would mind calling Charles and asking him a few questions for me. I’d be curious to see if he’d be willing to come in,” Cheryl said.
“I can’t do that,” Sharon replied. “I don’t have my cell phone with me and besides, he’s sitting in the parking lot.”
Cheryl raised her eyebrows. “He’s in the parking lot? Right now? Why is that?”
“He wanted to drive me here, but said that he’d meet me here so that I could talk to him right after my interview.”
“Do you think you could get him to come up? I’d really like to talk with him,” Cheryl was hopeful.
“I’ll ask him,” Sharon said, and went down to ask Charles.
“Please don’t tell him anything about the accusations or anything that you and I have discussed. I would like to hear what he has to say without becoming defensive right off the bat.”
