Synopsis

Three-year-old Julie has a secret which she has been told NOT to tell. If she tells, her mommy will be hurt terribly. Secrets in the head of a three year old, however, are like thinking that the sun will forever hide behind the clouds. Eventually, they will both come out, and when Julie’s secret does come out it tears apart two families while bringing them closer together at the same time. “The Monster’s Lap” is a real story based on the life mis- fortunes and betrayals of a young three-year-old girl and the family that loves her. You will have an intimate look into the ups and downs of this family as well as the little known process that goes on from discovery to the final verdict in court. Can a three-year-old express what has happened in her life enough to convince the District Attorney to take on this case, or will the word of a well spoken, well liked thirty-year-old man be more believable? “She can hardly talk. I didn’t do anything and after all, who would believe a three-year-old?”

Author Biography

Drew Bankston lives in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, two amazingly perfect dogs, and a garden.

Before he started writing science fiction, Drew received his bachelor’s degree in Bio-Ag Sciences from Colorado State University. After that, just to shake things up, he never really used that degree but worked various jobs in retail and Asset Protection with some really important people who are way too dignified to be named here. He’s still working but would eventually like to write full-time and stop working for other people. He likes pie and chocolate, as everyone should.

The Monster's Lap is a book to let people know that sexual assault happens in many homes, and not just one. It happens to many people, not just one. It can be stopped. The beginning of the book sets the stage for what is to come. Please read this book bubble and consider reading, the Monster's Lap. There were a few other boyfriends that came and went, many of them troublemakers or in and out of prison. It wasn’t until the boyfriend that Carla and I referred to as “the slug” that things started to really take a turn. I seem to continue to drone on, however, so maybe it’s time to let you hear the story. I remember that it was several years ago when Sharon brought the young man home.
